PHOTOS FROM THE FILM
A Physical Companion to
Honorable But Broken: EMS In Crisis

A collection of documentary photographs featured in the award-winning film

Honorable But Broken: EMS In Crisis narrated by Sarah Jessica Parker.

The film starts the conversation. The book keeps it going.

Photos From the Film is a physical companion to Honorable But Broken: EMS In Crisis, transforming the imagery and themes of the documentary into a lasting artifact that can be shared, displayed, discussed, and revisited for years to come.

Unlike a streamed film, a book can remain present in stations, classrooms, offices, homes, and public spaces long after the credits roll.

Photos From the Film transforms the visual language of Honorable But Broken into a physical artifact that invites ongoing conversation about EMS and the people who serve within it.

Created while embedded with paramedic crews during the COVID-19 pandemic, these images offer a rare look into the realities of Emergency Medical Services and the people who answer the call to serve.

About The Book

So Others May Live

Photos From the Film is a curated collection of documentary photographs featured in Honorable But Broken: EMS In Crisis.

While the documentary tells the story through interviews and film, this companion volume allows viewers to spend more time with the moments, people, and environments that helped shape the project.

Created during frontline pandemic response operations, these photographs document a profession that most people only encounter during moments of crisis.

Together, they form a visual record of service, sacrifice, resilience, and the growing challenges facing Emergency Medical Services in America.

Inside The Book

Real moments.

Real providers.

Real environments.

From The Photographer

Through My Lens

The photographs in this collection were created while embedded with paramedic crews during the COVID-19 pandemic and later featured in Honorable But Broken: EMS In Crisis.

My hope is that these images provide a deeper understanding of the people behind the uniforms and preserve an honest record of a profession that continues to serve communities under extraordinary circumstances, often to great personal physical and mental sacrifice.

With that understanding, society should take stock of how essential the service they provide is, fund them at the level of their first responder peers, honor and take care of them in the way they deserve.

The Honorable But Broken film and this book serve as both a historical record and a continuous reason to keep having the hard discussions that need to happen in order to advance the profession and serve the public at the highest level.
